Died: July 8, 2025 in Wausau, WI
Derek "Doc" Watson born March 3, 1978, passed away July 8, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. He is survived by his parents Rick and Linda Watson, his wife Candice Watson for whom he showed unwavering love, their five children Justin Dougherty, Morgan Dougherty, Collin Watson, Casey Dougherty, and Sophia Watson, as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles & cousins. He is preceded in death by his dog Blu and Blu's best friend Ruger.
Derek will always be remembered for his unrelenting love of life with a "no fear" attitude. Whether it was snowmobiling, ATVing, motorcycles, basically anything with a motor, his need for speed was well fulfilled. Travel was a large part of Derek's life taking him to many states and several countries, some of which ended up with permanent homes. A few of his favorites were Wisconsin, Georgia and Costa Rica.
Derek was surrounded by the most wonderful people. Whether it was work related, location relation or long-term friendship related, he always said "friend are the best family a person can have". He touched so many lives with his positivity and overwhelmingly charismatic attitude even in the darkest days of his journey.
He shined everyday with his inappropriate humor and quick wittedness at all the right times often catching people off guard making them either cringe or laugh. He was the first to lend a hand or a piece of equipment. Whether you participated in the endless bottles of bourbon, the amazingly executed twirls or even just caught a glimpse of his infectious personality, he will be forever loved and never forgotten by all who were fortunate enough to have crossed his path.

Derek was more than a friend-he was a light in our lives. His laughter, kindness, and loyalty touched everyone he met. I´ll always cherish the memories, the deep talks, and the quiet moments we shared. Derek made people feel seen and loved. Though the world feels dimmer without him, his spirit lives on in all of us. Rest easy, my dear friend. You are deeply missed and forever loved.

My memories of Derek were so we'll described in the tribute to him. Exactly as I remembered him. Larger than life personality, very caring & charitable human being. So glad to have known him. My deepest sympathies to all his family. I know he has left a huge hole in your hearts
